Create a WLAN hotspot free of charge

You don't need an external device or paid software to create a Wi-Fi hotspot. Most people in Europe carry everything they need with them every day: a smartphone with Internet access.

To create a Wi-Fi hotspot on your Android device, proceed as follows:

Open ‘Settings’ and then ‘Connections’ on your smartphone. Tap on ‘Mobile hotspot and tethering’ and switch on ‘Mobile hotspot’. Switch on ‘MOBILE HOTSPOT’ and ‘Wi-Fi sharing’. You will be prompted to set up a new profile with a password.

The following instructions apply to the iPhone:

First activate WLAN. Then go to ‘Settings’ > ‘Mobile network’ > ‘Personal hotspot’ or ‘Settings’ > ‘Personal hotspot’. Tap on the slider next to ‘Allow access for others’.

You can also install the MyPublicWiFi software on any computer or laptop with Windows 10 or Windows 11, which allows you to create a Wi-Fi hotspot with password-protected access. You can download this free software from the Internet here:
